Hi there,
Hidden doors (flush with the wall, with no visible frames or trim) always spark curiosity—and a bit of mystery. We’ve gotten so many questions about them! Most people aren’t quite sure how they’re built, if there are ready-made options, or whether they’re easy or complicated to install. That’s why today we’re diving into the topic and showing you how we approach their design.
In general, there are two main types of flush doors:
Doors made of a different material than the wall (for example, a painted door in a drywall partition)
Doors made of the same material as the wall (for example, a wood-paneled wall with a matching wood door)
Today, we’re focusing on the first type, since each case is handled a bit differently. Below, we’ll walk you through some key things to keep in mind before adding them to your projects. Then we’ll share two construction details, complete with extra notes, tips, and insights to help you fully understand the solution.
Let’s get started!
